This facility is a full service animal resource center providing community education, surrender and adoption service for domestic pets. The facility also houses animal cruelty investigations and county animal control partnership with Marion and Polk counties. The animal shelter provides the following accommodations: 65 adoption and stray dog kennels; 70 adoption and stray cat cages; 7 kennels for dog isolation and infirmary; 38 cages for cat isolation and infirmary; 5 puppy kennels; 8 cages for cat holding; 10 dog holding kennels; 12 cages for small pets. Of the 21,000-sq-ft new building, approximately 16,000-sq-ft is dedicated to the animals. The rest of the building serves as administrative offices, an education auditorium, and reception and waiting areas.
