2005 Hammurabi Award of Merit (recognition of excellence in masonry and/or tile) |
|
Following our pre-bond planning Corvallis School District contracted us to design the Corvallis Replacement Middle School (later named Linus
Pauling Middle School). The first of our school projects to become LEED-certified, Linus Pauling Middle School is conveniently located next to
the Osborne Aquatic Center and houses 600 students with the capability of expanding to 750-student capacity. Every classroom has access to
natural light. The classrooms are designed to be clustered into houses for student gatherings. The school has two gymnasiums, a 125-seat community
room with theater-style seating, a commons area that is used for food service, meetings, and performances, a centrally located media center, an elevator,
and many other amenities for students and staff. A safety lock down system was designed for the school that utilizes key cards. The school was ready
for the start of the 2004 school year. The project is Silver-LEED certified. |

We assisted the Yamhill-Carlton School District with their bond improvement projects. Work included mechanical, electrical, and
seismic upgrades on all existing facilities. A new cafeteria/multi-purpose facility was designed and constructed on the shared
campus between Yamhill-Carlton High School and Yamhill Grade School. Six new classrooms were added to the high school
utilizing volume within their existing building for a second floor. A three classroom addition at Carlton Grade School along with
improvements to the gymnasium were also part of the bond measure. The work was done in three bid packages with the majority
of the renovation work being undertaken prior to the start of the 2002 - 2003 school year with the balance of work being completed
prior to Winter Term 2003. |

The Student Life Center addition to the student services building at Chemeketa Community College allowed the college to
consolidate all of its student life programs - student government, newspaper, student life, international student relations,
student work programs (trio) into one cohesive area of this campus center. The addition also provides meeting and activity
spaces sorely needed on campus and a convenience store accessible to students at all hours. The signature space of this
addition is a 1 1/2 story (volume) open lounge area for student interaction and relaxation, which may also be transformed for
performances and dances. This space has literally become the "Living Room" of the CCC campus. |
